Research Associate/Scientist—Molecular Engineering
We are seeking driven, self-motivated, and passionate Research Associates/Scientists to join our team. Candidates will be involved in synthesizing the unique building blocks for our novel DNA sequencing technology, developing and optimizing synthesis protocols, as well as proposing and executing innovative experiments to push our technology forward. The position is salaried with hours dependent on lab needs and project deadlines.
Design and execute well-controlled experiments with a high attention to detail.
Participate in production of in-house reagents and starting materials.
Perform data analysis and protocol development.
Identify problems and propose solutions.
Maintain detailed and reliable laboratory records.
Develop and propose improved processes to fulfill the above functions.
Maintain the lab’s cleanliness and organization.
Other duties as assigned.
Adhere to Stratos Genomics’ policies and support management decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Solid computer skills. Experience with Excel preferred.
Very good organization skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical ability.
A keen ability to listen to directions and execute them accurately.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all organization levels.
Ability to work safely and professionally with or on Stratos' property.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
PhD, MS, or BS/BA in chemistry, organic chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 1-2 years laboratory experience with preference to experience with HPLC, MS or NMR, complex DNA/RNA oligo-synthesis, advanced nucleotide chemistry and process development/management.
Ideal candidates will have:
Demonstrated ability to understand and develop chemistry for:
Mature understanding of how to work with chemical and biochemical samples, including sample handling, reactivity, purification and storage.
Technical background in next-generation DNA sequencing, molecular engineering, biomolecule conjugation, and/or laboratory automation.
Experience with HPLC, MS, NMR, automated DNA synthesizers, inert atmosphere chambers, and manual pipetting.
