Stratos Genomics scores $4M
Stratos Genomics, a Seattle startup developing new genome sequencing technologies, has raised a $4 million series-A financing round led by Fisk Ventures. The three-year-old company is a spin off from the Stratos Group, a Seattle product development shop.
“The Stratos Genomics technology has the potential to revolutionize personalized medicine and bring genome sequencing technology to all. If our goals are realized, Stratos Genomics will have a huge impact on life sciences,” said Stephen Rose, Managing Director of Fisk Ventures, in a statement.
Stratos Genomics is led by Allan Stephan who founded the Stratos Group and previously served as CEO of Inroad and chairman of Micronics. He also previously co-founded Amnis, a Seattle area biotechnology company. The company's "Sequencing by Expansion" technology, or SBX, is described as a simple "single-molecule detection process that circumvents the limitations of competing technologies, allowing accurate, ultra-low-cost whole genome sequencing."
